Byadgi Chilli was accorded the GI Tag in 2011 for its distinct wrinkled shape, long size, deep red colour and characteristic low spicy-sweet flavour.
Byadgi Chillies of the Dabbi variety are small & stout in shape, lending a not-so-spicy taste & rich red colour to curries.
